Better Season: A Display Font That Elevates Your Web Design

Recently, I was working on a boutique online store’s homepage. The client wanted something modern yet warm, something that felt inviting but still professional. They had a strong brand identity in mind—friendly, approachable, and slightly whimsical. As I explored different typefaces to match this vision, I came across Better Season. At first glance, it felt like the perfect fit.

A Friendly Display Font with Personality

Better Season is a display font with a natural, sweet, and friendly vibe. It has a unique all-caps style that feels both bold and approachable. Its curves are soft, almost hand-drawn, which gives it a playful character without being too informal. This makes it ideal for creative projects where warmth and charm are key.

I tested Better Season in the hero section of the boutique site. Placed over a high-quality image of products, it immediately drew attention without overwhelming the design. The font’s natural flow made it feel like it belonged there, adding a touch of personality that matched the brand’s voice.

Where to Use Better Season Effectively

Better Season shines in areas that require visual impact and emotional connection. Here are some practical use cases:

It’s important to note that Better Season is best used sparingly. Because it’s a display font, it should complement rather than dominate. Pairing it with a clean sans-serif font for body copy ensures readability and maintains a balanced design.

Readability and Responsiveness

One of the biggest concerns when using a display font like Better Season is its readability on smaller screens. I made sure to test it on mobile devices and found that it performed well as long as the text size was appropriately scaled. On small buttons or labels, I adjusted the font weight and spacing to ensure clarity.

For dark backgrounds, Better Season works beautifully, especially when paired with light-colored text. However, on light backgrounds, I recommend using a slightly darker version of the font color to maintain contrast. This helps avoid eye strain and keeps the design accessible to all users.

When using Better Season over images or video backgrounds, it’s crucial to ensure the text remains legible. I used a semi-transparent overlay to make the text pop without overpowering the background content.

Font Pairing and Brand Consistency

To build a cohesive brand identity, I paired Better Season with a simple sans-serif font like Montserrat or Inter for body copy. This contrast helped guide the user’s eye through the page while keeping the design visually engaging.

For editorial-style websites or blogs, pairing Better Season with a serif font could add a more refined feel. However, I found that the combination worked best when the serif font was subtle and not competing with the display font’s personality.

Consistency is key in web design. Using Better Season across all brand assets—website headers, social media posts, email templates, and downloadable resources—helps reinforce brand recognition and trust.

Technical Considerations

Before implementing Better Season on the website, I checked the font’s technical specifications. It comes with multiple weights and alternates, making it versatile for various design needs. The font also supports multilingual characters, which is essential if the site targets an international audience.

Webfont availability was another consideration. Better Season offers webfont formats like WOFF and WOFF2, ensuring compatibility across browsers and devices. It’s also available under commercial license, which means it can be used on client projects, landing pages, and digital templates without legal issues.

Lastly, I made sure to include the necessary CSS styles and font loading strategies to optimize performance. Faster load times are critical for user experience, especially on mobile devices.

Final Thoughts

Better Season is more than just a display font—it’s a tool that can elevate your brand’s visual storytelling. Whether you’re designing a portfolio, a course sales page, or a boutique store, this font adds warmth, personality, and a touch of creativity that resonates with your audience.

By using Better Season thoughtfully and pairing it with complementary typography, you can create a design that feels both professional and inviting. It’s a great choice for designers looking to blend style with functionality and build a stronger online presence.
